Norton Mobile Security Lite – a free application designed to protect smartphones from malicious software – is now available in Android store.
Norton Mobile Security Lite includes a feature of anti-theft and protects against the introduction of malicious software (anti-malware). Anti-theft provides the ability to remotely identify the location of the smartphone to lock and erase data by sending a text message. For example, sending a message to “wipe [your password]” to “approved” phone a friend.
“Norton Mobile Security Lite protects sensitive information and offers basic functions to protect your smartphone,” – says the vice president of mobile devices the company Norton, Dave Cole.
Free version of this product does not include some features that are supported by a paid version of Norton Mobile Security, such as blocking calls or SMS messages.
Paid version Norton Mobile Security costs $ 60 for a two-year subscription.
David Hall, manager of Norton Asia-Pacific, in a July conversation with PC World said that the open-source nature of Android has led to “very, very strong innovation” in the creation of Mobile Security. Hall also said that the anti-theft function will be on very high demand among users. “Theft of mobile phones are one of the biggest problems” – said Hall. “We were able to pay more attention to this issue.”
Norton Mobile Security and the Lite version is available in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
