A drop of water turns a smartphone into a microscope

Camera smartphones are becoming better and better, gradually displacing the market with ordinary digital cameras. The weakness they have traditionally been considered an optical system – namely, the lens is too small. The fact that the aperture of the lens depends on its physical size, ie diameter. For obvious reasons, smart phones is almost impossible to insert the lenses of normal size.

But not always need a good lens to make a good photograph. Change the optical system can be a single drop of water .

It works just as easy as it sounds: just drip a drop of water on the lens – and it becomes a powerful magnifying glass. The operation should be done very carefully so as not to pour too much fluid, and that it does not enter the cabinet. Necessary to accurately hit a pipette exactly in the center of the objective lens. The drop should get a perfectly round size. If it is too big, it will be spread around the edges, and if it is uneven, the images are obtained blurry because the light rays can not focus on the center of the optical system.

The microscope can be made ??into almost any smartphone model, as long as the objective lens was quite small. For example, the lens is well suited iPhone 4s. Here you can see what photos are on the iPhone 4s. Here is another gallery .

When taking pictures, too, be careful, because it fears a drop vibrations.

Then a few other pictures taken by the same system. Note that the resolution enough even for something to fix the individual hairs on the body of a bee!
